Surrey Waste Management (SWM) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SITA UK Limited. The company is responsible for operating fifteen Community Recycling Centres (CRC’s)’, four Waste Transfer Stations (WTS’s) and one Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on behalf of Surrey County Council.

The company also promotes the ‘three R’s – REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE – throughout the County.

SWM holds a twenty-five year contract with Surrey County Council which commenced in September 1999.  

SWM is proud to have been awarded the international BS EN ISO 14001 accreditation in 2002.  Following extensive, in-depth auditing of operational procedures and record keeping, SWM clearly demonstrated that Environmental Management Systems were in place and formed an integral part of the business.

SWM are regularly audited and has continued to maintain this standard.  The company now forms part of the SITA UK accreditation to the international Quality and Environmental standards ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. Each of the Surrey Community Recycling Centres and Waste Transfer Stations managed by SWM are included under this accreditation.
