Redevelopment at Blenheim Road Community Recycling Centre (CRC) in Epsom was completed in June after a major three month redevelopment.
Bleinheim Road is the first CRC to be be modernised as part of Surrey County Council's multi-million pound investment programme to all the county's CRC facilities.
The new site will now provide local residents with a modern, accessible and user-friendly facility. These include:
- Four split-level container bays, holding eight large containers, which will enable easy access to recycling containers
- Improved traffic flow within the site
- A dedicated entry and exit for heavy goods vehicles and business customers
- Additional parking, enabling more people to use the facilities at any one time
- More facilities to recycle additional materials such as bulky plastics. These include items such as plastic garden furniture and plastic toys.
Sean Trotter, General Manager for Surrey Waste Management, said: "The site manager and operatives, as well as the project managers, have worked really hard to ensure full service was available to all members of the public, and also that development was completed on time."
He added: “The CRC’s opening has occurred at the same time as the campaign to mark National Recycling Week 2008, and, therefore, we encourage residents to use these new facilities at Blenheim Road to recycle and divert waste from landfill as much as possible.”
