Surrey Waste Management submitted a planning application to build an energy-from-waste facility at the Clockhouse Quarry in Capel to help deal with household waste generated in Surrey. The planning application was approved by Surrey County Council's Planning and Regulatory Committee on 3 October 2008. A planning application for a further energy-from-waste facility at land adjacent to Trumps Farm, Longcross, near Chertsey was submitted to Surrey County Council in July 2008.
