Why Trumps Farm?

The Surrey Waste Plan highlighted potential sites for thermal treatment facilities in the county - five were identified as suitable:

  • Clockhouse Brickworks at Capel, near Dorking (currently awaiting the outcome of a planning application for a 110,000 tonnes EfW facility)
  • Land adjacent to Trumps Farm, Longcross
  • Land at the former airfield at Wisley,
  • Charlton Lane, Shepperton
  • Martyr's Lane, Woking

Following a public examination into the Surrey Waste Plan, the independent Planning Inspectorate confirmed these sites as suitable for thermal treatment of waste. Clockhouse Brickworks and Trumps Farm are the Council's two preferred sites. Land adjacent to Trumps Farm is well located, close to the main sources of waste in the county and can accommodate the proposal. The proposals for Trumps Farm, which will be designed to handle 160,000 tonnes of leftover household waste, will complement the proposed sister facility at Capel.

What will it look like?

The Trumps Farm EfW will be designed to harmonise with the surrounding area, creating a modern state-of-the-art facility that will be an integral part of the rural landscape and woodlands.

Modern construction techniques and materials will allow the facility to reflect the surrounding landscape. The curved roof will be planted with sedum moss, providing additional integration into the surroundings, drainage benefits and habitats for plants, insects and birds.
